CurtisCon is first and foremost a community event with a mission to raise awareness, share knowledge, and develop the culture around hacking, security, and technology. As such, each attendee is in-effect an ambassador for this community, and has the responsibility to maintain an open and respectful environment to both other community members and the public.
We require all attendees and volunteers to follow the following Code of Conduct, or face removal from this and subsequent events:
Expected Behavior
[ Be kind and respectful ]
Treat everyone with respect and empathy, including those with differing viewpoints and experiences.
[ Respect the rights of others ]
Accept "no" gracefully and without question. Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow attendees.
[ Ask before recording ]
Get explicit consent before photographing or recording anyone. Not everyone wants to appear in photos or video, and that preference should be respected without pressure.
[ Speak up for others ]
If you see something that makes you or anyone else uncomfortable, please report it to an organizer.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered harassment and are not acceptable at CurtisCon:
Discrimination, intimidation, harassment, or abusive behavior directed at any person on the basis of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following. Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention. Sustained disruption of talks, performances, or other events. Threats of violence or violent language directed at another person.
Recording or photographing anyone who has declined or not consented.
Reporting
If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify an organizer as soon as possible.
